Food things you should know

Bovine tuberculosis has a slow course and a latent period of up to 2-3 years. It has no obvious clinical symptoms, making it difficult for dairy farmers to judge from appearance alone. Therefore, whether there are bovine tuberculosis-positive cows on the ranch is mainly determined by the government's annual inspections at the ranch. Currently, the internationally accepted inspection method "Intradermal tuberculin test" (ITT, commonly known as "tail root test") is used in Taiwan, but because the test sensitivity is about 60-70% and is judged by professionals, its disease control is still limited.
