Fall Favorites and Halloween Time at Disneyland!

September brings Spooks and Screams to Disneyland Park
and Disney California Adventure!

Halloween Time has already arrived at the Disneyland Resort! Our team at Unistar enjoyed a sneak peak into all the horrifying happenings at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, including the latest addition to the holiday spirit, Plaza de la Familia. The brand-new attraction in Disney California Adventure is dedicated to the autumn holiday traditions of Mexico and the rest of Latin America, featuring some of our favorite Disney Characters!

Disney guests can enjoy a traditional Mexican comida, including platos featuring enchiladas, tostadas, and tacos. Especially captivating are the desserts; their ghoulish cookie sandwiches filled with decadent cookies and creme filling are frightfully delicious!

Just as comida is at the center of Mexican culture, seating for guests to come together with
their loved ones are at the center of the Plaza surrounded by colorful traditional decorations.  A mariachi band plays on an elevated stage throughout the day, always finishing their set with
a song they choose to pay homage to a traditional artist that inspired them.

Just to the right of the Plaza’s main entrance is an interactive family tree. Here, guests can take a moment to remember family members and friends, writing their name and a special message before tying it to a chain for their departed loved ones to come read on the Day of
the Dead.  Photo ops abound at two traditionally painted sets of wings magically made for social media shots. Nearby, take a picture with Miguel Rivera, the young star of Disney’s Coco, as he visits all of his new amigos, brought to life with incredible full body puppetry!

Joining the traditional mariachi band and Miguel are a cast of performers and characters that make everyone feel like a part of the Plaza’s familia. Traditional folklorico dancers bring lively energy as they stroll the plaza, and the bones of ancestors dressed in their holiday best are brought back to life to welcome guests. When all these performers join the mariachi band at the Plaza’s entrance, they celebrate their culture, their music, and their familia. This beautiful combination creates a delightfully immersive and interactive experience in Mexican and Latin American culture.

Throughout both parks at the Disneyland Resort, Halloween Town’s ghastly ghouls have been hard at work cooking up spooky sights and devious decor. Main Street is covered in jack o’ lanterns, including the fan-favorite Main Street Mickey Pumpkin at the head of the street
(it’s the perfect spot for pictures – one on each side)! Throughout the day, The Disneyland Band comes out to play villainous vignettes of spooky songs and seasonal favorites on the steps leading to the train depot. Back in Disney California Adventure, the Headless Horseman statue at the front of Hollywoodland is a sight to see when lit up at night, and an adorably frightful car doll at the front of Cars Land is a great photo op as all our engine-powered friends rev up for Radiator Screams. On the Avengers Campus, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! goes into a state of emergency every night as it transforms into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. Similarly spookily, window-shopping guests can screech with delight as they spy Disney villains endlessly taunting and teasing Mickey and Friends.

At the Haunted Mansion Holiday and New Orleans Square, Jack Skellington and the rest
of Halloween Town are out in full fright, bringing screams and scares to delight all living souls that dare to visit. Celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year is the Haunted Mansion Holiday Gingerbread House. Nearly an unlucky thirteen feet high, the House towers over all that have come before it. This year’s Haunted Mansion Holiday Gingerbread House features decorations that reference each of the nineteen previous houses, celebrating its long history of fear and fright!

Ghouls, ghosts, frights and fantasies abound this year at the Disneyland Resort! The decor is dead-on, the spooks are spectacular, and the entertainment is sure to leave an everlasting effect on the lucky souls who visit Disneyland or Disney California Adventure this time of year. Be sure to hurry back to the happiest place on Earth soon! The holiday haunts will only be around September 3rd through October 31st (Plaza De La Familia is featured until November 2nd)! Get your tickets and book your reservations online at Disneyland.com, and get ready to have a happily horrifying time.
